Storybook Vessel

For my Storybook vessel, I decided to do a creation myth story (A creation myth being a mythological story of how something as created normally it is used to explain how the universe, earth, humans, etc. were created) that I wrote. The story goes that there were once two gods, a goddess named Hakai and a god named Creu, both gods were betrothed and with the union came the creation of Terra, which is a planet that represents earth and along with that came to the creation of humans. the story then continues with the goddess, Hakai being betrayed and Creu taking over her role making himself the one and only god over Terra. In the end, the world starts to slowly rot under his rule a Hakai now lays in slumber as she is forgotten by the humans that once worshipped her as well.
This story is represented by the sculpture I made as the woman I have sculpted is Hakai herself, I tried to make her look like an old broken statue that is whither away to represent her being forgotten and she is holding the world in her hand which is all cracked and scratched again to represent how the world id whithered away under Creu's rule. And lastly, there is the craving of both of the gods holding each other hands in front of the moon, this is supposed to represent the night that they were both betrothed to each other. It is craved onto the woman's dress.
I plan on firing this in the Kelm and after it comes out I plan on painting it with tempera paint and added varied deign and silhouettes on the dress, finishing the story with the painting on her dress.

  2. As always, you chose a very unique shape for your project. Most other projects were pots and cups and whatnot--you chose an entire WOMAN. Long story short, this is a very unique and well-crafted project and you did excellently on it, especially on the hair. Nice work!
